Let's be kinder to our seniors

They are the ones who welcomed us into the world. The ones who were there for us every step of the way during our formative years; staying up to feed and comfort us night after night when we were babies and keeping us safe and warm during our school years. They provided for us, clothed and sheltered us, and smothered us with endless love and selfless sacrifices throughout it all.
This is what they did for us and now it is our time to return the favours plus much more. In short, it's payback time and we need to be reminded of this. It seems that most of the time, society seems to forget this. Instead of remembering, most of us deliberately choose to forget. We choose to repay with actions and deeds of unkindness, cruelty, and downright and reckless abuse.
With elderly abuse on the rise, we need to find concrete ways to reverse these trends and do it in a hurry. It is time for us to start showing more respect towards our seniors. We need to recognize what our seniors have done for us and start being kinder to them.
Let us show more patience and compassion towards our seniors. Treat them with more dignity and help to make their golden years more enriching and enjoyable. We need to provide them with services that meet their demands and health and retirement facilities that accommodate their needs.
The travel industry needs to become more pro-active when it comes to offering tours and cruises that are geared towards the comforts of seniors and the financial industry needs to become more in tune with the financial needs of seniors. In addition, the health care industry needs to re-double its efforts to provide health care services that would cover the needs and demands of the elderly.
It is time for us to become kinder to our seniors. Time for us to step up to the plate and walk the talk so to speak.
