Jobs that require bilingual skills

By Donna J. Jodhan

Believe it or not, in America we are living in a multi lingual society. There used to be a time when English was almost exclusively spoken in America but that seemed to be such a long time ago. Now we have become a melting pot of languages so to speak with the additions of Spanish and Chinese and others. Hence the need these days for persons to become bilingual if they hope to land some of the more plum jobs.

It is not easy to determine which kinds of jobs would require bilingual skills; jobs in the finance, insurance, travel, medical, and services sectors and of course the list could easily be expanded. It is a well known fact that some companies are enticing bilingual workers with bonuses and it seems to be working.

There is a growing need for bilingual workers because the demand for bilingualism in the workplace is also growing. This trend is not going to change for the foreseeable future so anyone hoping to carve out a niche for themselves may as well start here. Please see my reference below.

  • Being bilingual can open up a whole new world of employment opportunities because companies that trade in foreign countries look for people that can communicate at all levels of their business. There are many languages recruitment agencies out there to help you find the right language job.
